How VoteTide works
VoteTide puts every race on one live map: official vote counts, prediction-market odds and polls, side by side, updated every minute. It is built to be reused for each election, from the 2026 midterms to the 2028 presidential race.
Where do VoteTide's vote counts come from?
Directly from official state election websites as counties report (for example North Carolina's State Board of Elections and Florida's Division of Elections), and from the Associated Press when an AP key is configured.
Who calls the races?
Official calls come from the results source (AP when connected). When only market data is available, VoteTide shows a clearly labelled "market call" once polls have closed and prediction markets price a candidate at 97% or more. A market call is not an official projection.
Where do the odds come from?
Live prices from Kalshi and Polymarket, two prediction markets. A price of 70¢ means traders think a candidate has about a 70% chance of winning. They are not polls or forecasts.
Where do the polls come from?
The public polling tables maintained for each race. VoteTide averages the five most recent polls.
How often does the map update?
Every 30 seconds in the map, and every minute on race pages.
Is VoteTide partisan?
No. VoteTide is not affiliated with any party or campaign. The 'what's at stake' sections give each side's strongest case, summarised at party level.
Can I use the data?
Yes. Every election has a JSON endpoint, for example /api/live/2026?office=S. Please link back to VoteTide.
